Bio
Rob Connolly is a multidisciplinary visual artist and filmmaker based between Los Angeles and Toronto.
Trained in Industrial Design at NC State University, Connolly went on to earn his MFA in Film Production from the University of Southern California. His films have screened at major festivals around the world including Tribeca, SXSW and the Toronto International Film Festival. His BAFTA/LA award winning film OUR NECK OF THE WOODS premiered at the Sundance Film Festival before going on to tour with Eric Fischel’s traveling art exhibition AMERICA NOW + HERE.
His current practice moves between sculpture, textiles and film to explore the tension between concealment and expression of personal identity. These works reimagine fly-fishing lures as large, textile-based sculptures that explore the quiet intersections of masculinity, queerness and craft in rural life.
